Welcome to our first monthly e-blast under the new format! We're pretty excited - and hope you enjoy what is sure to be an ever-improving email blast with every coming month. Let us know if there is anything you'd like to see featured in coming emails and we'll be sure to see what we can do ;)

2008: Celebrating Another Successful Year!

From time to time I like to share with you our latest stats just to show you what a difference you make through your volunteer time at Sharing Connections - and the impact you're making on our client's lives. Below are some examples of the many successes we've had in 2008.

We distributed 38% more in furniture and household items to our families
Over 4,300 individuals benefitted from our services (up 28%)
We cut our client "no show" rate by 53%
We provided over 130 cribs, 840 dressers, 770 sofa and loveseats, 350 tables and over 1,000 mattress/box sets to our clients
You, our volunteers, donated over 12,400 hours in volunteer time making 2008 a year to remember!

While numbers allow us to measure and calculate our progress - what we can never put into a calculator is the amount of dedication by you, our volunteers, that continues to make Sharing Connections a great place to work, volunteer and donate to. The entire staff looks forward to what's ahead in 2009.

Help Us Find More Furniture

We're hoping you can help by sending out the furniture S.O.S. to your friends, family, neighbors and more! As the economy continues to stumble, our client list will continue to grow. The only way we can continue to serve the families that come to us is if we increase our furniture "on-hand". Help us by sharing the ways listed below:

In 2008, Sharing Connections Furniture Bank provided over 1,100 beds and cribs to low-income families throughout the Chicagoland area. With tough economic times, the need continues to grow! Join us and put some dressing on those mattresses.

Ohhhh the Warmth...

Just when you thought the only way to volunteer was in the chilly warehouse - we have a warm chair waiting just for you!

OFFICE AIDE: (front office) Work in the program office with phone and data-entry projects. Volunteer openings available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays in both the 9am-Noon and Noon-3pm shifts.
CLIENT CARE AIDE: (warehouse) Work directly with clients and assist them during their visit. Volunteer openings available on Tuesday and Wednesday both 9am-Noon and Noon-3pm shifts - and on Thursdays from Noon-3pm.
