During the winter months, the community came together through various coat drives to keep our client families warm. With over 1,600 coats coming through our doors through December 2008, we’ve been able to fill our coat racks and provide additional coat donations to various organizations throughout the community.
2008’s donations were the product of all the hard work put forth by coat drives run by Naperville Rotary Sunrise, Downers Grove VOICE Committee, Leo’s Cleaners, Liz Melton (a local Downers Grove H.S. student) and the generosity of the community who donor by donor donated over 550 coats (and counting). Without this support many would have gone without adequate protection against the harsh cold.
With the individual donor taking our coat inventory to whole new levels, we’re excited that we’ll have the opportunity to encourage future drives for groups and organizations to be focused on the much needed items of new blankets, linens and towels. The need for these items are in high demand as Sharing Connections continually strives to provide items such as these to every family we serve.
With the ever-growing amount of coat donations, it’s clear that everyone wants to make a difference – and we are so happy that we’ve had the chance to work with such generous donors this winter season. |
