Sharing Connections is proud that we are able to work with dedicated partners in the social service community to help ensure that families get the services they need. One of those services is household items and furnishings to help make a house a home. To access the Sharing Connections services, there is a flat fee of $50 to help promote self sufficiency and provide a sense of ownership. It's important that ownership and pride play a key role in our service. These funds also help enable us to continue to provide these services. Keeping with our tradition, we are proud to offer every client receiving furniture both clothing and a bag of personal care items and cleaning supplies when they are available. We understand that some clients may not have the funds to cover this access fee, so we allow the referring agency to pay the access fee for clients. Since the referring agent knows the client best, part of the process is for you, our partner agent, to work with the client to plan arrangements on how to make the payment prior to the client's visit to SC. Access fees are not to purchase furniture or items, this is one of the primary reasons we dropped the "per item cost" in 2008. Through communication with our partnering agents and community donors, we discovered that continuing with a minimal fee was important to the process, the client's pride, and to promote ownership over a "hand-out". It is so vital to maintain the trust we have built through our community supporters and donors and celebrate each and every day that we are able to serve a family with pride and dignity. |
